The crown is both serious and a bit of an inside joke.
The joke part comes from when I was a teenager, my mother started calling me The Queen of Everything, because I preferred facts over opinions so I would say, “Did you know, it’s a fact that…”.
I would learn anything and everything about a topic before putting my thoughts out there. As a result I’ve become incredibly proficient with research and writing and am able to present ideas and concepts that people have never considered — including myself.
The serious part is two-fold.
The first is of course in the history of the crown image, which comes from a poster created by the British during WWII (shown to the right). The poster was intended to raise the morale of the British public in the event of invasion. This statement, Keep Calm and Carry On, is something I live by every day.
And this leads us into the second reason … when I was 12 I was hit by a truck. Because of that injury let’s just say my brain was slightly rewired. And because of that, I’ve created exceptional ways to compensate and was even studied in Canada for how I’m able to use my brain in new ways.
Being hit by a truck was truly the best thing to ever happen to me. It has allowed me to live my life quite literally as if each day is a new day. I don’t live in the past. And because of that I’ve lived an absolutely exceptional life (climbed a mountain in Europe, helped delivery over 24 babies, assisted in autopsies, was an ambassador for Canada in Europe, attended med school, saved a life, had art displayed in galleries in New York and two pieces owned by one of the most exclusive collectors in the world, and much more). All because every day is another day to do something exceptional.
You never know who you’ll meet, who they may introduce you to, or what experiences you may be exposed to.
Because of these experiences I know what my passions are and I am 100% invested in them every day of my life. And fortunately I do what I love every day, both at my day job and with my companies.
The crown reminds me to be calm, to accept what is, to move on when appropriate, and to protect my head ; )
