This coloring book helps kids explore gender identities in a fun and very entertaining way.
Why a Coloring Book?
I’m not sure why the authors chose coloring books to get their message across (they have several of these but this really is the best). But if you think about it, kids LOVE to color; hell, I know that when I get really stressed I want to color. It’s something that calms me and centers me. Odd? Perhaps. I believe my sister does the same thing. There’s just something about slowly and methodically filling in the spaces. It’s like meditation for your hands.
And kids, well they don’t care what they’re coloring. They enjoy the act. The fact that these images are amazing and happen to have great messages of acceptance and gender exploration behind them, all the better.
Do little girls like to play with trucks? Absolutely. Do little boys like to wear sparkly things? You betcha! And why not encourage those very natural desires? Here’s a sample:

And that’s just one of 24 great panels in this book. If you’re curious to see the rest go spend $9 on Amazon and buy a copy (Sometimes the Spoon Runs Away with Another Spoon Coloring Book). Gift it to the child in your life or keep it for yourself. We could all use a little more acceptance in our lives.
